Fr. Albert Hayes OFM Cap. in Zambia

File of photographic prints relating to visits by Fr. Albert Hayes OFM Cap. (1915-2005) to Zambia. Most of the prints are not captioned but include prints of the grave of Bishop Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap. at Lukulu Mission taken in January 1985. Other prints show Fr. Albert greeting Zambian clerics and religious sisters and attending meetings.

Noel Brennan OFM Cap. The file includes images of the grave of Bishop Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap. in Lukulu, the grave of Fr. Gerald Joyce OFM Cap. Photographic prints of Fr. Ronan Herlihy OFM Cap. undertaking a trip to Chobe National Park in Botswana. The prints have been placed in sleeves in a folder which is annotated: ‘A Day in Chobe / April 1983’. The prints mostly show wild animals and river crossings associated with the trip.

• Fr. Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap., Fr. Killian Flynn OFM Cap., Fr. Casimir Butler OFM Cap. and Fr. Seraphin Nesdale OFM Cap. in Northern Rhodesia in c.1931. The images were probably taken during a trip to Victoria Falls.

Geological Survey of the Zambezi River

A collection of photographic prints showing the North and South Sioma Falls region of the Zambezi River, Western Province, Zambia. The prints were produced by Geo Survey International Ltd., Nairobi, Kenya, for Br. Andew O’Shea OFM Cap. Some of the prints have been annotated: ‘Linanga’, ‘Sioma Plain’, ‘Spencer’s Village’, and ‘Ferry Crossing’.

A collection of prints of local Christians mainly associated with the missionary work of the Irish Capuchin friars in Northern Rhodesia (later Zambia). Most of the prints are not captioned. The file includes prints collected for publication in 'The Capuchin Annual' and 'The Father Mathew Record'. The captioned photographs include:
• ‘Peter: a cook boy – on right in picture, a Catholic. Kinabini – our kitchen boy [and] on left, a catechumen. These are the 2 boys who came with us from Mankoya to help us to start our mission here’.

Mangango Leprosarium

Photographic prints of Mangango leprosarium, Western Province, Zambia. The prints show a group of local children, a feast in progress in the leprosarium and a visit by Sr. Joseph (and her sister from New York) to Mangango.
