Minutes of the first General Mission Conference held at the Sichili Mission Station, Northern Rhodesia. The meeting was convened by Monsignor Killian Flynn OFM Cap., Prefect Apostolic. The minutes include decrees in relation to the Horarium, rules and observance, the catechumenate, catechists, preaching, and mass attendance. Reference is also made to building plans, steps to improve proficiency in languages, transport considerations and the running of local schools.

Report on the Conference of Ordinaries of Northern Rhodesia held in Lusaka in April 1945. The attendees included Monsignor Killian Flynn OFM Cap., Prefect Apostolic of Victoria Falls, and Fr. Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap. For the most part, the conference dealt with issues related to the provision of Catholic education in the country.

Memorandum on the opening of the Barotseland Mission

Memorandum by Monsignor Bruno Wolnik SJ (1882-1960), Prefect Apostolic of Broken Hill, re the establishment of the Irish Capuchin mission in Barotseland. He writes: ‘As soon as a piece of land is chosen and granted by the Paramount chief, settle there and start a few temporary buildings’.

Note on the history and geography of the Caprivi Strip committed to the care of the Irish Capuchins ‘temporarily in 1944, and permanently after the War’. The memorandum refers to the establishment on 6 August 1944 of the Holy Family mission in the Eastern Caprivi Strip.
