A small album containing photographic negative sheets compiled by Fr. Alfred O’Mahony OFM Cap. (1912-1988) mostly relating to the work of Irish Capuchin missionaries in Africa. An annotation on the inside cover reads: ‘Fr. Alfred O’Mahony / Sancta Maria / Mongu / Northern Rhodesia’. The album has a manuscript index to the contents. The album includes images of baptisms, school groups, religious sisters in Lukulu, Sichili, Livingstone and Sawmils in Northern Rhodesia, and in Langa, Athlone and Parow in Cape Town, South Africa. Images of Victoria Falls (1942) and the Zambezi River are also extant in the file. There are also prints of groups of friars in Rochestown College, County Cork (1931-2), and in Knock, County Mayo (1940).

The collection includes some views of local worshipers and parishioners (in Northern Rhodesia and in South Africa). Includes prints of Fr. Christopher Crowley OFM Cap., Fr. Luke Sheehan OFM Cap., Fr. Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap., Fr. Killian Flynn OFM Cap., Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon OFM Cap. (Provincial Minister from 1931-7) with Fr. Paschal Larkin OFM Cap., Fr. Advertisement and leaflet re the Capuchin Missionary Apostolate in Northern Rhodesia. The leaflet contains a rudimentary map of Irish Capuchin mission stations along the Zambesi River. The advertisement was probably taken from 'The Father Mathew Record' periodical. It is noted that there are thirty-three Capuchin priests and eight lay brothers working in twelve mission stations in the Diocese of Livingstone.

Newspaper cuttings, ceremonial booklet and other documents relating to the consecration of Monsignor Timothy Phelim O’Shea OFM Cap. as Vicar Apostolic of Livingstone by the Most Rev. Ettore Felici, Apostolic Nuncio, at St. Mary of the Angels, Church Street, Dublin, on 8 September 1950. The attendees included President Sean T. O’Kelly, the Taoiseach, John A. Costello, and Éamon de Valera. The file includes cuttings of photographic prints of the consecration mass, the departure of Bishop O’Shea OFM Cap. from Dublin to return to Africa (with Fr.
