IV. Spiritual Development: ‘which will show spiritual growth of districts’. V. Regular Observance: ‘which will point out the means I have taken to ensure the religious and Franciscan spirit of our missionaries’. VI. Suggested Ordinances: ‘which will include ordinances which need to be made or emphasised by the Provincial Minister and General Definition’. A brief history of both the missions in the Cape Province, South Africa, and in Livingstone and Barotseland, Northern Rhodesia, is given in the report.

A pastoral report on Parow Parish, Cape Province, South Africa, compiled by Fr. Didacus McGrath OFM Cap. (1929-2018). The report refers to the three areas within the parish: Tiervlei (Tyger Valley), Parow and Elsies River. The report notes that ‘in the parish, taken as a whole, the proportion of Coloured to White is 2 to 1. It can scarcely be classed a “White” Parish. We use the term “White” and “Coloured” with no intention of approving a situation. The Churches in Parow and Tiervlei are almost certainly the only Churches with mixed attendance in the area’.

It reads: ‘The purely white parishes would be Sea Point, Rondebosch, Mowbray, Woodstock (mostly so). The other places have a quota of whites, mostly coloured though. My ambition is to get ourselves quartered in the part marked in heavy read. … All the coloured are moving towards the Flats especially along the main road towards Bellville’.
