Copy of an extract of the will of Thomas William Joseph Barry, 8 Queen Street, Cork. He bequeaths to Fr. Matthew O’Connor OSFC all ‘his estate and interest in the house No. 8 Queen Street in which I now reside, and the premises on which has been built Father Mathew Hall free and discharged from the mortgage which now effects said premises’ on condition that one mass shall be said in Holy Trinity Church every week for eighty years. With a rescript for commutation by the Sacred Congregation of this weekly obligation for eighty years to 400 masses as £50 is the maximum value of the house. In Latin and English. Lease from William Clark, Kilinalooda, Cork, to William Regan, merchant, Cork, of a cellar, stores and lofts occupied by Clark (as ‘a general merchant’), and lately in the possession of Joseph Pike Haughton and John Barcroft Haughton, containing ‘in front to Charlotte’s Quay seventy five feet and in depth at the east end thereof two hundred and twenty four feet situated on the Red Abbey Island, parish of Holy Trinity, Cork’, for 700 years at the yearly rent of £113 15s. Endorsed on verso with articles of agreement (dated 15 Apr. 1875) regarding the reduction of the aforementioned rent to £84 12s 4d. With counterpart.

Documents relating to an application to the Commissioners of Charitable Donation and Bequests for Ireland for the appointment of Fr. Eustace McSweeney OFM Cap., Fr. Donal O’Mahony OFM Cap., and Fr. Peter Rodgers OFM Cap. (FMC) as trustees of various properties in Cork. The file includes a statutory declaration to be signed by the Capuchin friars and a copy of the order from the Charitable Commissioners confirming the appointment of the FMC members as trustees. The attached schedule provides particulars of the title to the various premises in Cork held by the Capuchins including Holy Trinity Church, the adjacent Friary and other properties such as Father Mathew Hall, and the friary, school and farm at Rochestown, County Cork (31 Mar. 1987).

The book provides details of income derived from ministries, mass stipends and collections, alms, bequests, pensions and various donations to the community.
