Entertainments

The sub-series contains records relating to various forms of entertainment performed at Father Mathew Hall, Church Street, Dublin. These included exhibitions, concerts, comedic sketches, dramatic plays and until the late 1960s an annual Christmas pantomime. The records also refer to the dancing, choral and orchestra classes which were routinely held in the Hall.

The John McCormack Cup

Inscribed on the bowl: ‘John McCormack Cup’. On reverse of the bowl: ‘Presented to the Feis Maitiú on behalf of the John McCormack Society of Ireland on 19/4/1994 by Mr. Liam Breen Hon. President’. The base is engraved with the winners in 1995 and in 1997.

Photographic Album

Thread-bound volume containing photographic prints of plays and pantomime performances at Father Mathew Hall, Church Street, Dublin. Only the first two of the prints are annotated: ‘The Heiress. Presented by St. Philomena’s D. Group, Drogheda, at National Drama Festival, F.M. Hall, Thursday, 8th May 1952’; ‘The Heiress. As presented by The Father Mathew Players. National Drama Festival, Thursday, 14th May 1953’. The remainder are photographs of dramatic performances (mainly pantomimes) and the audience in the Hall (predominately school children). A small number of the prints are press photographs from the 'Irish Press' and the 'Irish Times'.
