Letters from John Earley, stained glass artist and church decorator, Upper Camden Street, Dublin, regarding the design and installation of windows and door panels at the Capuchin Church and Friary, Walkin Street, Kilkenny. The file includes letters to Fr. Jarlath Hynes OSFC, Fr. Berchmans Cantillon OSFC and Messrs Ashlin & Coleman, architects. Other works referred to include the erection of a tabernacle and canopy over the altar and a pulpit ‘made of the best selected Sicilian marble …’.

Memorandum of agreement of Stephen Lalor [var. Lawlor], builder, Walkin Street, Kilkenny with Fr. Fidelis Neary OSFC, guardian, Capuchin Friary. The agreement (compiled by M.M. Murphy, solicitor) stipulates that Lalor will complete the building works on the Capuchin Friary and Chapel in Kilkenny according to the specifications set down by Samuel Francis Hynes, architect. The total cost of the works and labour is £3,430 13s 4d.

This series comprises a collection of local newspapers (mostly published in Kilkenny). Many of the items include articles covering events and ceremonies connected with the Capuchin friars in the city.

Photographic print of the graves of Fr. Martin St. John (d. 6 Oct. 1780) and Fr. Bryan McDonell (d. 3 July 1782) who were buried alongside Fr. Philip Forestall OFM (d. Dec. 1829) in St. John’s Old Churchyard, Dublin Road, Kilkenny. The print is annotated on the reverse in the hand of Fr. Angelus Healy OFM Cap.: ‘Graves of two OFM Caps and one OFM in graveyard, St. John’s, Maudlin Street, Kilkenny’. With a plan and notes re said plot by Fr. Angelus.
