Street collection book

The volume list the names of collectors (probably members of the Third Order of St. Francis), and their sections (each section was organised under a religious name such as ‘St. Francis of Assisi', 'St. Aloysius', 'St. Brigid' etc.). A note dated March 1955 gives details of the amount of money collected which was subsequently given to the spiritual director of the Third Order. A list of novices of the Third Order (with addresses and dates of reception) is extant in the volume.

Subscription and membership lists of Third Order brothers attached to the Capuchin Friary, Kilkenny. One of the lists arranges the brothers by district and prefect name (St. Louis, St Patrick’s, St. Columcille and St. Fidelis). The list is endorsed on the verso with a statement of Third Order accounts for 1934.

Subscription book for construction of the new Capuchin Friary

The volume is titled ‘subscriptions of the [Third Order] Brothers towards the expenses of the new convent’. The entries are listed under name and the amount of the monthly subscription towards the fund. The subscription list runs from circa July 1895 to Dec. 1900. The remainder of the volume includes miscellaneous accounts including an ‘account of John Kelly in connection with the Third Order, 1925-1929’.

Includes copies of the souvenir booklet for the solemn high mass of thanksgiving held in the Friary on 17 Oct. 1948. With a letter from the Corporation of Kilkenny to Fr. Conrad O’Donovan OFM Cap., guardian, offering their congratulations. Includes photographic prints ('Irish Press') of the aforementioned high mass celebrated by the Most Rev. Includes the early history of the Capuchins in the city, notes regarding the Alms house on Walkin Street, and the later construction of the present-day Friary building. With a bound copy (25.5 cm x 20 cm) dated at St. Mary of the Angels, Church Street, Dublin, 1938.
