Croke Park, Dublin

An aerial view of Croke Park (Páirc an Chrócaigh), Dublin, in September 1938. The image shows (on the right) the newly-completed Cusack Stand which was officially opened in time for the All-Ireland football semi-final between Kerry and Laois on 21 August 1938.

An image of three Irish Air Corps aircraft on patrol over the coast in about 1940. A manuscript annotation on the reverse of the print identifies the aircraft type as an Avro Anson.

Marino, Dublin

An aerial view of Marino, a suburb on the north side of Dublin, in June 1932. Visible in the photograph is the O’Brien Institute which was built in the early 1880s as an orphan home and school. The Institute buildings are now used as a training and conference centre for Dublin City Fire Brigade. The print shows large tents pitched on the grounds of the Casino in Marino. The tents may have had some connection with pilgrims attending the International Eucharistic Congress.

St. Kieran's College, Kilkenny City

An aerial view of St. Kieran's College ('Coláiste Chiaráin') in Kilkenny in about 1935. The college is a secondary school and was formerly a seminary. The seminary was closed in 1994.
