A letter from Robert Monteith (1879-1956) to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. Monteith refers to a revised edition of his work 'Casement's last adventure' and to additions and emendations he would like to make to the same. Reference is made to the assistance given to Monteith by the Capuchin Franciscans at Rochestown in County Cork and to the role played by Austin Stack in the 'Tralee happenings' in 1916.

He also refers to his own contribution to the ‘Annual’. He also mentions his great friendship with the late Fr. Albert Bibby OFM Cap. who gave him the Father Mathew temperance pledge. He adds ‘The little medal he gave me was on my watch chain when I entered Portland Gaol but I was unable to recover any property when released, so I am bound by a Capuchin pledge until death’.

Letter from ‘Richard Rowley’ (Richard Valentine Williams) to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap., offering his opinion on ‘The Capuchin Annual’ (1943). Rowley claims he is neither ‘a politician or a partisan’. He adds ‘It seems to me that one solution has never been attempted, and that is the power of love. No nation can be built up on mutual hate and suspicion between different parties and creeds’.

Letter from Peter F. Anson, Harbour Head, Macduff, Banffshire, Scotland, to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. commending the contents of the latest edition of ‘The Capuchin Annual’. Anson also refers to his own writing projects and to the difficulties being endured because of the war. He writes ‘Life goes on quietly apart from almost daily wailings of the siren. So far Macduff has escaped bombs, unlike many other ports on this north east coast’.
