A flier advertising a concert in the Mansion House in Dublin in aid of the family of Sylvester Pidgeon who died on 28 September 1914 from wounds sustained in the Bachelor’s Walk massacre which took place in Dublin on 26 July 1914. A printer by trade, Sylvester Pidgeon left behind a widow and five children ranging in age from three months to eleven.

The flier refers to the ambitions of the editors of the ‘Annual’ to ‘establish a centre of national cultural activities’ based at the head offices of Capuchin Periodicals on Capel Street in Dublin. It also notes that an exhibition of paintings held in the offices are on exhibition including works by Jack B. Yeats, Patrick Tuohy, Nathaniel Hone, and Seán O’Sullivan. (Volume pages 62-3).
