Annotation on the reverse of the letter in hand of Pearse reads ‘[Seosamh mac Cathmhaoil], possibly Joseph Campbell, Loretto Cottage, Castlereagh Road, Belfast’.

It reads ‘Whatever arrangement may in the future be considered as to leaving you in possession for the present in [the] Hermitage as tenant at a lower rent, this must not be allowed to interfere with your obligation to pay the rent for the past half year’.
