An image of two inhabitants of the Aran Islands in about 1940. The title of the print is ‘seanchas’, an old Irish word referring to the act of storytelling and conveying an ancient tale handed down by oral tradition. A ‘seanchaí’ was a storyteller or a custodian of this tradition.

The volume contains content from various prominent politicians, religious figures, artists, and writers including Peter F. Anson, Fr. Paschal Robinson OFM, Sophie Raffalovich O’Brien, Fr. James O’Mahony OFM Cap., Fr. Michael O’Shea OFM Cap., Archbishop William Hayden, D.L. The volume contains numerous original letters and newspaper clippings offering mainly favourable testimonials on ‘The Capuchin Annual’ (1936). The volume contains content from various politicians, clergymen and religious, artists, and writers. A solitary review for the 1937 edition of the ‘Annual’ is also extant in the volume.
