It is noted that Laffan was a Captain in G Company, 1st Battalion, Dublin Brigade, Irish Volunteers. With a cover letter from Laffan to Fr. Henry Anglin OFM Cap. stating that this article ‘has not appeared in any paper’. He also states that he is an old member of the Third Order of St. Francis (Merchants’ Quay) having joined in April 1904 (66 years ago)’.
