Cape Province Parish Reports

Reports on parishes administered by the Irish Capuchins in Cape Province, South Africa. The reports were submitted by the Irish Provincial Minster to the Capuchin General Curia. They contain information in respect of Langa, Athlone, the Welcome Estate, Belgravia, Bridgetown, and Parow. Information is given under the following headings:
• Year of foundation
• Personnel
• Apostolates attached to parish
• Non-Parochial Apostolates (missions, retreats, diocesan functions)
• Population (numbers of Catholics, numbers of prospective converts and numbers of marriages)
• Care of other institutions
• Other religious working in parishes

'Capuchin Annual' Review Article

A clipping of a short review article published in the 'Irish Press' (21 Aug. 1954). The article was probably written by Benedict Kiely and refers to the resignation of Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. as editor of 'The Capuchin Annual'.

Capuchin Central Library, Rome

An image of the Capuchin Central Library (Biblioteca Centrale Cappuccini) in Rome in about 1930. Founded in the second half of the nineteenth century, the library was at this time located on the Via Boncompagni in the centre of Rome. In 1968, the library was relocated to the International College of St Lawrence of Brindisi situated on the outskirts of the city. The library has a stock of books and documents totaling 120,000 catalogued items including works by Capuchin authors, material on the early history and ministries of the Order, Franciscan publications, and many rare medieval and early modern books and items of ecclesiastical interest.
