Minute book of the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis attached to Holy Trinity Church, Cork. The volume contains a record of the monthly meetings of the female members of the sodality. Reference is made to the receptions and professions of new members, the rules and spirituality of the sodality, and sermons and retreats given by the spiritual director and various Capuchin friars.

Lease from Benjamin Whitestone, Cork, to William Clark, merchant, of a cellar, yard and linnies formerly in the possession of Paul Benson and ‘containing in front to the quay seventy-five feet and in depth at the east end thereof two hundred and twenty four feet situated on Red Abbey Island in the city of Cork’, for 800 years at the yearly rent of £70. With attached sketch map of the premises titled: ‘A map of cellars, linnies and yards near Parliament Bridge, let by Mr Benjamin Whitestone to Mr William Clark delineated in foot measurement, October 24th 1781, by Patrick [Ahern]’.

Copy will and last testament of Isaac Mee, Cork city, merchant. He bequeaths all his leasehold interests in Cork to his wife, Susanna Mee. He appoints his wife, and friends, Michael Wood and Daniel Callaghan, merchants, his executors.

Probate of the last will and testament of Sir William Saint Lawrence Travers, Rosmore, County Cork. He devises and bequeaths to his wife Elizabeth Barbara all his estate and property (real and personal) and appoints her his residuary legatee. Sir William died on 31 Aug. 1877 and his will was proved on 17 Nov. 1877. It is noted in the probate that the ‘effects sworn’ amounted to ‘under £3,000’.

Copy schedules and affidavits prepared for the High Court of Justice of Ireland (Probate Division) in relation to the personal estate and effects of Robert Warner, late of 71 Penrose Quay, Cork. The schedule includes property on Charlotte Quay held under lease (4 Dec. 1844) for 800 years subject to a head rent of £60; premises on Queen Street held under lease (1 Mar. 1845) for 800 years subject to a head rent of £25; and premises on Penrose Quay held under lease (27 Sept. 1875) for a residue of a term of 999 years subject to a head rent of £30 per annum during the life of Sarah Deaves. The schedule specifies that the search was for all acts by certain named persons (William Clarke, Sir William Saint Lawrence Clarke, Lady Elizabeth Barbara Clarke Travers, Francis MacNamara and Nicholas Daniel Murphy) from circa 1781-1877.

Correspondence, requisitions on title and other legal documents relating to transactions involving a plot of ground behind Morrison’s Quay. The plot adjoined Father Mathew Hall and occupied a site in the vicinity of the junction of Keeffe Street and Catherine Street. Musgrave Brothers Ltd. sold the plot to the Capuchin friars of Holy Trinity in 1961. Other parties with an interest in the premises included the Cork College of Commerce.
