The volume contains numerous original letters and newspaper clippings offering mainly favourable testimonials on ‘The Capuchin Annual’ (1942). The volume contains content from many prominent politicians (Seán T. O’Kelly), clergymen, artists (Jack B. Yeats), writers (Patrick Kavanagh), and diplomats (John loader Maffey, David Gray, and Eduard Hempel). Includes letters to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. from Archbishop Joseph Walsh, Daniel Corkery, Bishop Patrick Lyons, Canon Patrick Rogers, Bishop Thomas Keogh, Seán MacEntee, Oscar Traynor, George Noble Plunkett, Bishop Edward Doorly, Gerald Boland, Fr. A bound book, formerly ‘The Works of Ruskin / library edition / Vol. II’, in which clippings relating to the 1916 Rising taken from contemporary newspapers have been laid in. The clippings (including many printed photographs and illustrations) cover the fighting and the subsequent executions of the rebel leaders. The volume includes contemporary accounts mainly taken from loyalist publications, including the ‘Irish Times’, ‘Daily Sketch’ and ‘Weekly Dispatch’. The volume also includes articles from the ‘Cork Free Press’. The end pages of the volume contain clippings relating to the Civil War and material re the deaths and executions of leading republicans during the latter stages of that conflict. A few articles from the late 1930s and early 1940s (presumably compiled by Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap.) are also extant in the volume. Inserts include typescript ephemera mainly from anti-Treaty and republican sources during the Civil War. The volume is not paginated.

The volume contains reviews of Alice Curtayne’s ‘St. Anthony of Padua’ published by The Father Mathew Record Office as ‘Capuchin Monographs No. 1’ in 1931. Several letters and ephemera referring to the publication are also pasted into the volume. Includes reviews published in the ‘Irish Independent’, ‘Cork Examiner’, ‘Irish Catholic’, ‘The Cross’, ‘The Kerry Champion’, ‘Sunday Independent’, ‘Irish Press’, and ‘Kilkenny People’.

A file containing an Irish language manuscript titled ‘An Craos-Deamhan’ (with English translation) by An tAthair Peadar Ó Laoghaire. The manuscript (with the accompanying translation) was seemingly sent for serial publication in the ‘Cork Sun’ newspaper. The newspaper ran from 18 April 1903 to 1905. The text was sent to Máire Ní Shíthe, the Irish-language editor of the ‘Cork Sun’ (43 Grand Parade, Cork). The text relates to Cathal mac Finguine (died 742). The tale was edited in Irish with an Irish-English glossary by Ó Laoghaire in 1905. It was published by An tAthair Peadar as ‘An Craos–Deamhan ó’n seana–sgéal 'Aislinge Meic Con Glinne' (Dublin, 1905). An envelope in the file is annotated in the hand of Fr. Albert Bibby OFM Cap. and reads: ‘The original manuscript of ‘An Craos-Deamhan’ by an tAthair Peadar Ó Laoghaire with his own English translation’.

The volume includes several obituaries for prominent Irish emigrants (both religious and lay) in North America. The file also includes original photographs and ephemera relating to a pilgrimage to Ireland organised by Richard Cushing (1895-1970), Archbishop of Boston, in 1949. The photographs show Archbishop Cushing meeting various political and religious figures, including President Seán T. O’Kelly, Taoiseach John A. Costello, Archbishop John Charles McQuaid, Archbishop John D’Alton, Paul A. Dever (Governor of Massachusetts), and the Capuchin friars, Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap., and Fr. Henry Anglin OFM Cap. Typescript documents and ephemera are also extant in the volume, including material sourced from ‘The Advocate’ (Melbourne, Australia), and ‘The Father Mathew Record’.
