              Letter from +Ryan, Bon Secour’s Hospital, Cork to +McQuaid stating he has been inundated with greetings from Trinidad. The Holy See has finally ended the association between the Port of Spain Diocese and the Dominicans. He mentions the birth prevention programme announced by the Trinidad government.               Letter from +Robinson to +McQuaid stating that the Bishop of Galway, Dr. Browne, has sent a proposal to the Holy See with regard to sponsoring six Lithuanian or Ukrainian students at University College Galway. He suggests that the balance of the monies held for the relief of Polish refugees in Ireland could be used as a contribution towards his proposal. He asks to know the current balance on the account and if the Red Cross still has it.

The former had known of a precise instruction from the Holy See for some months and yet only raised the matter that day. He was then asked ‘…how precisely precedence is to be accorded’. Typescript.

              Letter from +Gerald O’Hara to +McQuaid regarding the appointment of priests to form part of an International Secretariat for the ‘Apostolate of the Sea’ by the Sacred Consistorial Congregation. Their duty will be to maintain contact with the various branches of the Apostolate of the Sea. The Irish Hierarchy are asked to appoint a priest and a brief biography is to be sent to the Holy See.
