Archival history
On November 1st 1954, a new parish, Saint Mary’s, Hereford, was formed by the Archbishop of Cardiff, under the title of Our Lady, Queen of the Universe. It was situated on the right bank of the river Wye and was formerly included in the only parish of the city, St Francis Xavier’s.
The parish had no suitable space for mass to accommodate the parishioners, until the 11 August 1957 when a new parish hall was opened. A new Presbytery was later built in 1979.
On the 1st October 1989 the Vincentian congregation handed back the care of the Parish of our Lady’s, Hereford to the Archdiocese of Cardiff.
