Typed report by Dr. O’Connell. Mr. Joseph P. Walshe phoned to say notes were being posted to say that Mass will be offered in the Church of the Visitation, Fairview, on Sunday, 3 June, 1945, for the repose of the soul of Herr Hitler. Further, a notice appeared in the Irish Independent, saying a Mass was to be celebrated for Mussolini at Merchant’s Quay Church. Mr. Walshe feels that the Franciscans were deceived. Fr. Hans also deceived. He thought that the Mass for Hitler was a private matter.
