Dublin Branch unanimously decided that Irish delegates would oppose him if there was any opposition to him. Otherwise no. Talk of paper being bought out by Workers’ League. Told that Jack White of Times and Jim Downey of Mail appointed research team to publish items, presumably to injure the Church, e.g. Fethard-on-Sea. Wonders who the building worker in The Evening Mail letter controversy is. Getting the Nolan’s a great deal of publicity.
- 3 July 1969 Correspondence relating to a sermon given by a curate, Fr. A. Hannon prior to a General Election. The Labour Party candidate, James Downey, said the sermon stated that Party members were all communists and no one should vote for them.
