10-12 November Letter from Miss MacBride, Luinneac, Co. Donegal to +McQuaid stating she is a member of a Dramatic Group who have two plays at the Abbey Theatre, ‘The End’ and ‘The Stranger’. She asks permission to invite the clergy and the Christian Brothers. Annotated by +McQuaid. 1958

Anonymous handwritten letter to + McQuaid from a person in Donegal. Informs the Archbishop that Dennis Griffin, a Communist and Anti-Cleric, has been nominated for a key post in the Welfare Department. This is not right and could be dangerous.

A Gael – Linn statement on “disbalance of our trade with particular countries.” Refers to fishermen and a fish factory in Carna, soil testing and vegetable quick- freezing in Connemara, fishing in Donegal, Irish language films, Irish music and drama.

Carr, Beatrice V., O’Donnell’s Hotel, Letterkenny, Co.Donegal. Asks Fr. Glennon whether there is anything he can do to help her transfer from her school in Donegal to one in Dublin. She has not been trained in Carysford and the previous Archbishop made a law only allowing Carysford trained girls take up appointments in Dublin. On grounds of hardship an exception was allowed.

Henley, Dr. Frank, Clonmany, Co. Donegal. His adopted child cannot take his name. Asks the Archbishop to use his influence to have somebody introduce the necessary legislation.

Sleibhin, S. Ni, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. Asks that the Rosary be broadcast nightly around 7pm thereby allowing the entire family join.
