Youth club set up at 37 Pembroke Road. Led by the Bolton brothers and Massy. Rory Roberts was responsible for the breakdown in the Electrical Strike.

              Typed minutes of ‘V’ Committee meeting. The following items are mentioned in the report: a report published in London says Hildegard Meyer claims to have made contact with the Dominicans through whom she made contact with the Irish United Nations’ Society. Dominican Provincial to speak to his priests. Scientologists amongst the leaders of the Irish Good health Society. Communists showing interest in the Dublin Trades’ Council. List of those elected to be checked. Brannigan is working in the docks but has been refused permission to join the MPGWU. Tony Coughlan has been paid £1,000 as an organizer with the Connolly Association. Malayan Minister of Education arrived in Dublin for an investigation.

              Typed minutes of ‘V’ Committee meeting. The following items are mentioned in the report: the Committee discussed the Communist activities as published in The Sunday Independent. There are no new developments. Russia is endeavouring to build relations with European countries and Trade Union groups and Congresses. The Peoples’ College is receiving a small grant from the ICTU Rory Roberts is a keen supporter. The College caters for few trade unionists. Michael O’Leary, a graduate of UCC, was unexpectedly elected. He is friendly with Mr. Coughlan, TCD, formally the chief organizer of Connolly Clubs in Britain. The TV programme, ‘Teen Talk’, was discussed and praised, but some topics could be handled more prudently.

Met by Roy Johnson and visited William O’Leary, union official, ITGWU. Cathal MacLiam, one of the editors of The Plough, is active in the Communist Party. Large meeting of the CP in London to finish their new ‘Party Line’ booklet Irish way to Socialism issued. Rathdown Area is split three ways for coming elections.               Typed report from “your old granny”. Lady joining Joint Committee would want to be slick. Would want to be on guard against too liberal an outlook on the New Law Reform, especially adoption. Pleased with the way her “old ladies” are behaving. This break away of the Students’ Body is very good. Igoe obtained job in TCD for Anthony Coughlan, member of the CP.
