. Typed letter to Senator M. Colgan, Drumcondra, from D. J. Duffy, Secretary, Committee of Inquiry. Refers to certain statements he (Colgan) made regarding the alleged Communist infiltration into the Labour Party. Enclosed is a copy of Deputy Larkin’s letter denying the allegations made against him and seeking an opportunity to answer specific charges. The Committee consider that they are bound in justice to have the evidence presented in a formal manner. Copy of a typed letter to L.J. Duffy, Secretary, Labour Party, from M. Colgan. When invited to give evidence to the Committee he was assured that any evidence given would be treated confidentiality. Is satisfied that the evidence given is irrefutable and the Committee must accept it as authentic. Will not attend meeting. Reminds Committee that the Communist Party is a secret, underground party that resorts to subterfuge.
