Letter from Fr. James Ardle MacMahon to +McQuaid stating that the British Ambassador had telephoned Mgr. Cassidy at the Nunciature making enquiries about the possibility of having a Religious service for the late Sir Winston Churchill. He has been in touch with the Department of External Affairs and appreciates the delicacy of this matter. As there will be no official service, perhaps an ordinary service could be held on Saturday.

Copy letter from Fr. James Ardle MacMahon to Fr. Morgan Crowe, 87 St. Stephen’s Green, arranging for prayers to be said for the repose of the soul of Sir Winston Churchill at the usual 10am mass on Saturday. It is not therefore a public mass for the deceased statesman but an opportunity for Catholics to pray for him.
