Letter from J. McConnell, St. Patrick’s, Maynooth to Chris stating that he had discussed the reception of the new Nuncio at the College with the President. He mentioned the ceremony and asked what instructions were being given to the Hierarchy to which the President replied ‘…they should appear in choir dress. As far as the actual ceremonies are concerned, he intended to follow the directions of the Archbishop of Dublin and that he was already in touch with Fr. Cathal McCarthy in order to obtain the relevant information’.

Note from Fr. Mangan to +McQuaid stating that special permission would be needed from Rome to have the Votive Mass on Sunday 11 March. This will be a Sunday in Lent and as the Mass is an anniversary Mass it should be celebrated on the actual day of the anniversary. Therefore it is advisable to transfer the Solemn Anniversary Mass to 11 March. The Nuncio will gladly cable Rome and a reply should be received in a few days. The printing of the invitation cards has been stopped as has the preparation of the choir.

Copy letter from Fr. James Ardle MacMahon to Rev. John Moloney, 82 Marlboro’ Street, confirming the arrangements for the Liturgical Reception on 14 October. He also encloses a copy of the press release used for the previous Liturgical reception and believes it will be of use to the Press Officer, Oswald Dowling. He has notified Fr. John Piert who looked after the organ and choir and Fr. Brendan Houlihan who will advise on the chaplains required for the ceremony.
