Letter from Rev. Rupert Gibson, Church House, Fisherwick Place, Belfast, stating that the Presbyterian Church has been very moved by the needs of Pakistan. They have already had a collection which raised £6000. He states that it would be difficult to ask for more and finds that ‘…when things are initiated together they have a greater impact in Ireland than something which comes from outside. I do not say this in any disrespect to His Holiness, Pope Paul’.

Copy letter from +McQuaid to Rev. F. Rupert Gibson, Moderator of the General Assembly, Church House, Belfast, thanking him for his reply and stating he understands that it would not be possible to have another collection as the same thing had happened in Dublin. He then suggests that anyone wishing to make a donation could do as he has suggested in Dublin, namely send it to Archbishop’s House. He ends by saying ‘… I share earnestly your desire that God may give us peace both in Ireland and Pakistan.’
