Letter from +Alibrandi to +McQuaid stating that the Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for Bishops, Cardinal Confalonieri, has directed him to inform the Archbishop that the Holy Father has praised his spirit of faithful submission and supernatural adherence to God’s will, with which he accepted the communication regarding the acceptance of his retirement. This will not be made known until after the next Synod of Bishops. The Holy Father also conveys his Paternal Apostolic Blessing.

Letter from the Secretariat of State acknowledging the message and assurances of prayers of Michael J. Fallon. The Holy Father is very thankful and bestows his Apostolic Blessing on him and his family.

Letter from +Robinson to +McQuaid acknowledging, on behalf of the Secretariat of State, the collection taken up throughout Ireland for the relief of children who are victims of war. His Holiness is much consoled by the devotion of the people and imparts his Apostolic Blessing ‘as a pledge of the most abundant reward from heaven’.

Letter from the Secretariat of State acknowledging correspondence from Anne V. O’Kelly stating that the Holy Father will remember Kathleen O’Connell in his masses and prayers. The Holy Father also bestows the special Apostolic Blessing of the Sovereign Pontiff on Miss O’Connell.

Letter from Mgr. Glennon to Mgr. Alibrandi regarding the ‘Junior Digest’ which is being published by The Kerryman in Tralee. He knows very little about Peter O’Donnell but states that the leaders of Catholic Youth Associations view this magazine with some suspicion. It is chiefly a secular publication and suggests that while the Holy Father willing imparts his Apostolic Blessing to all his subjects, it has never been bestowed to purely commercial ventures.

Two copies of a telegram to His Excellency The Irish Ambassador to the Holy See from Mgr. Montini informing him that the Holy Father wishes that ‘this praiseworthy plan may soon be realized.’ Imparts His Apostolic Blessing on all involved who promote the plan.
