In this letters Father Ferran relates that being an Air Force chaplain is a very busy position but that he enjoys the work. Father Ferran relates that the Anglican chaplain is often off base and as a result Father Ferran has to administer the spiritual needs of the Anglican Airmen as well. At times he is often the only chaplain of any denomination on the base and as a result he has to administer everyone's needs and also has to deal with issues of all sorts and is kept quite busy. As of 28 May1947 there were still German Prisoners of War and tries to deal with their material needs as the R.A.F. only provides them with poor food and clothing. Father Ferran relates that many Irishmen are joining and Ferran states that they are often quite wild but soon settle down. This file contains a letter from the Air Ministry thanking Reverend Thomas Hickey for the services of Father Ferran. Ferran relates that he has served in the Middle East and relates that on his journey to America there were fifty-one priests on board, twenty of whom from Maynooth who were on the way to the Philippines.
