He was born in Kilmichael in County Cork, Ireland on 14 July 1858. After graduating at St Patrick's College, Maynooth, Cohalan was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of St Mary and St Anne, Cork on 25 July 1882. His first pastoral appointment was a curate at Kilbrittain, County Cork from October 1883 to January 1884. He briefly resumed his post-graduate studies at St Finbarr's Seminary (now College), Cork from January to November 1884. His second curacy was at Tracton, County Cork from November 1884 to September 1896. Cohalan returned to St. Patrick's College, Maynooth as a professor of Theology from 7 September 1896 to 7 June 1914.

He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cork and Titular Bishop of Vaga on 25 May 1914. Cohalan was consecrated bishop at St Mary and St Anne's Cathedral on 7 June 1914 by John Harty, Archbishop of Cashel-Emly. Two years later, he was appointed Diocesan Bishop of Cork on 29 August 1916.

Cohalan was an outspoken critic during the Irish War of Independence, condemning acts of violence on both sides. In particular, he denounced the policy of reprisals. In July 1920, he pronounced an interdict on the killers of an RIC sergeant, shot dead in the church porch in Bandon. He declared that anyone killing from ambush would be excommunicated. On 12 December 1920, Cohalan, issued a decree saying that "anyone within the diocese of Cork who organises or takes part in ambushes or murder or attempted murder shall be excommunicated". In turn, his life was threatened by the IRA. In August 1928, he condemned the British government which had allowed Terence McSwiney to die on hunger-strike in 1920.

He died in office at Bon Secours Hospital, Cork on 24 August 1952, aged 94 years old.

Originally buried at St Finbarr's College, Farranferris, he was reinterred in the grounds of St Mary and St Anne's Cathedral, Cork in 1996.

His nephew of the same name, Daniel Cohalan, was Bishop of Waterford and Lismore from 1943 to 1965.

Josef Martin Kälin was born in Einsiedeln, Switzerland, on 22 March 1887. His parents were Josef Martin & Anna Verena (née Schön) Kälin. His father was a timber merchant and the family sought to educate all their children. From 1899 to 1907 he attended the high school located at Einsiedeln Abbey. He then entered the monastic life at Muri-Gries Abbey in northern Italy in 1908 and made his religious profession on 5 October 1909 being given the name "Bernard." He continued his education in the fields of Philosophy and Theology at the University of Freiburg and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on 18 October 1912. He continued his studies at the same university receiving a doctorate in philosophy in 1918 with a dissertation on the Epistemology of Saint Augustine entitled "Die Erkenntnislehre des hl. Augustinus." Between the years 1913-1945 Kälin taught at Kantonsschule Obwalden overseen by the Benedictines, serving as teacher and rector of the school. During this time, he wrote a number of philosophy textbooks that became popular.

On 10 August 1945 Kälin was elected as the Abbot of Muri-Gries Abbey and received his blessing on 13 August 1945. He served in the role for only two years until he was elected as the third Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation and Order of St. Benedict on 16 September 1947. As Abbot Primate he resided in Rome, Italy, while also overseeing Sant'Anselmo all'Aventino. He traveled quite extensively in his role as Abbot Primate, but was also instrumental in his work at the Pontificio Ateneo Sant'Anselmo where he founded a monastic institute, taught philosophy, and redesigned the Church of Sant'Anselmo. He served in this role until 1959 when he was not reelected as Abbot Primate, at which point he returned to Muri-Gries Abbey where he died on 20 October 1962.

Patrick Brennan was born in Paulstown in County Kilkenny on 14 July 1875. He was given the name Benignus upon joining the Capuchin Order in 1891. Benignus was remembered as an outstanding preacher and retreat master. This was his principal ministry. He also wrote articles for the ‘Homiletic and Pastoral Review’ and other publications. Most of his life was spent as a member of the community at St. Patrick’s Friary in Wilmington, Delaware, from the 1920s until his death in 1950. In the 1930s he was an associate pastor for a short time in the friary in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was there when fire destroyed the friary on 8 January 1933 severely injuring Fr. Raphael Quinn OFM Cap., the pastor. Benignus was a great community friar and a helper to all those in the community. He died in the Wilmington Friary on 15 April 1950 and was buried in the cemetery attached to the house.

Born at Grange, Fedamore, Co. Limerick, he was educated at St Munchin's College, Limerick and St Patrick's College Maynooth. Ordained priest in June 1915, he returned to Maynooth to prepare for a Doctorate in Divinity. He was appointed to the staff of Maynooth, and held the post of Professor of Moral Theology before becoming Vice-President of the College in 1936. He became PP Bruff and St Munchin's before he was appointed bishop in December 1945. He was consecrated bishop of Limerick on February 24th 1946.

Bishop O'Neill prepared the ground for the development of St Munchin's College and moved the Bishop's residence to Kilmoyle. Despite being a shy person, he was the driving force behind a great deal of Diocesan work. He died suddenly in Kilmoyle on March 26th 1958 and is buried in the priests' plot in Mount St Laurence Cemetery.

Brendan Greene was born Patrick Joseph Greene on 4 March 1892 in Navan, County Meath. There is little information available about this friar. He ministered for several years at St. Patrick’s Friary in Wilmington, Delaware. He came to the West Coast after the friars withdrew from Wilmington in 1963. He spent some time at St. Francis High School in Flintridge, California. Father Brendan died suddenly on 2 August 1966 while on vacation in Hermiston, Oregon. He is buried at Old Mission Santa Inés, Solvang, California.

Early Life and Religious Formation
Donal Sullivan was born on 6 September 1931 in Cork. Raised and educated in Cork, he was an active youth who excelled in sports and developed a lifelong passion for hiking and the outdoors. He entered the Capuchin Franciscan Order at the novitiate in Rochestown, County Cork, on 3 October 1953. Following his philosophical and theological curriculum, he was ordained to the priesthood on 1 June 1961 at St. Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny, County Donegal.

Missionary Transfer and Parochial Ministry
In 1962, shortly after his ordination, Father Sullivan travelled to the United States to join the order's regional jurisdiction (then designated as the Vice-Province). Over the next thirteen years, his ministerial path spanned multiple parochial and healthcare assignments across California and Oregon:

• St. Francis Parish (Los Angeles, California): Served as Assistant Pastor from 1962 to 1965.
• St. Francis Parish (Bend, Oregon): Served as Assistant Pastor from 1965 to 1966.
• St. Lawrence Parish (Los Angeles, California): Served as Assistant Pastor from 1969 to 1970.
• Our Lady of Angels Parish (Hermiston, Oregon): Elevated to parochial governance, serving as Pastor from 1971 to 1974.

Healthcare Chaplaincy Apostolates
In tandem with his parish work, Father Sullivan committed significant periods of his priesthood to institutional healthcare chaplaincy, providing pastoral care to the sick and hospitalized:
