Letter from +Rodgers to +McQuaid. The letter concerns Mr Roche of Pearse St. who had complained during his stay in the abbey, Roscrea. He has written a number of letters and +Rodgers wishes to know what he is like. +McQuaid annotates that it is the consensus among the clergy who know him that he is an eccentric and that no attention should be paid to him.

He was the Crown Prosecutor when Barnes and McCormack were sentenced to death in Birmingham in 1939. A large number of people will object to his public appearance.

29-20 May 1957 Correspondence between +Levame & +McQuaid regarding the suppression of the St. John of God Brother hospital in Mulhuddart. +McQuaid states it is ‘…gravely unsuitable’ and has sanctioned the purchase of Celbridge Abbey.

Basil will also be able to attend. He has hoped to keep his visit private but was photographed by someone ‘snooping round’. Cardinal Griffin was Archbishop of Westminster and Fr. Basil was his twin brother.
