Scope and content

Hubert Carruth, C.P., - this note book contains Hubert's diary, written mainly on the recto of 252 pages, of his pilgrimage to the Holy Land over the period September/November, 1907. For record purposes, howevr, the volume has been dated as of April, 1908, because Hubert added a final page of recollections on that date. On the final page, he mentions the purchase of 140 "magic lantern slides" in Jerusalem "illustrative of our whole tour in the East". A grand-nephew of Hubert's, Mr. Ml. McKeown, 127 Spring Hill, Blackrock, Co. Dublin, on a vist to Mount Argus in August, 1996, to research Hubert's life, informed us that these slides are now in the possession of Miss Margaret McKeown, The McNeill Fold, Carrick Fergus, Co. Antrim, a grand-niece of Hubert's
