Ownership of Property

Letter from McEvoy to Father Thomas Morrissey CM, giving particulars of ownership of property in a lease dated 11 September 1863 between John Sibthorpe of 29 Upper Leeson Street and Charles Sibthorpe of 36 Upper Leeson Street. The property referred to is three dwelling houses located in Blackrock Cemetery, fronting onto Sweetman Avenue.

In comparison with Bechuanaland, they are well suplied with rain..The danger from spiders and snakes is mentioned. Medical facilities are poor. A review, by Salvian MaGuire, C.P., of the year since the arrival of the Passionists in Paraguay is quoted, He describes the terority and population. Attendance at Mass is sparce and few receive the sacraments. Fr. Theophane writes in the same vein. The number of irregular unions is referred to. While it would seem that there is work for a legion of priests, little would be gained at present by putting more men on the job. There are 8 schools in the parish. There is a necessity for a trained catehcist. Plans for a church and oratory are in hands. Medical facilities are appaling and the water is bad. On 24 January there were 82 cadidiates for Confirmation..
